The Round Room was built in 1821 for the visit to Dublin of King George IV over the past two hundred years the Round Room has welcomed royalty yet given birth to the Irish Republic, as the venue for the inaugural Dáil Éireann in 1919.

Its long and complex narrative mirrors the history of Dublin and cements us as Ireland’s Premier Events Venue.

History

Designed in 1821 to welcome King George IV, The Round Room has since become one of Ireland’s most significant historic spaces. It hosted the first meeting of Dáil Éireann in 1919, marking a defining moment in Ireland’s path to independence, and later saw the ratification of the Anglo-Irish Treaty in 1921.
